Security at Dillon Reservoir |
May 16, 2008: As part of Denver Water's continuing
safety and security program, the utility has hired a local, private security
company to patrol its facilities at Dillon Reservoir. This service will begin
Saturday, May 17. Denver Water has been discussing security options with local law enforcement
officials in Summit County, and this is one of the measures that has been
implemented as a result of conversations between the agencies. The security
service will be able to coordinate with the local authorities, reduce some of
the patrol burden on local law enforcement, and allow Dillon caretakers to focus
on their day-to-day operations and maintenance duties. Citizens may notice other
security enhancements in the future, and Denver Water will work to coordinate
installation to minimize the impact to residents. Travelers on the dam road are reminded that stopping is not permitted, and
they are encouraged to drive safely, particularly during inclement weather. ###
