Irrigation Efficiency Program

As part of Denver Water’s Tap+Smart initiative, the Irrigation Efficiency Program is a demand side performance management contract that helps large irrigators use “Only What They Need”.

The program pays $4,500 per acre foot of saved water which is pro-rated over five years to assure sustainability. The minimum requirement is projected savings of one acre foot of water annually. For those proposals that include both landscape and irrigation upgrades, Denver Water provides up to $10,000 of design assistance.

Typical projects that qualify include complete irrigation system replacements, pumping systems to improve pressure and efficiency, Controller upgrades (ET, Central Control, Web based) or replacement of turfgrass areas into Xeric shrub beds or native grass.

Outdoor Rebates

Some Evapotranspiration (ET) controllers operate based on historical information, while others operate based on current weather data transmitted each day from local weather stations during the irrigation season. Prices vary depending on the model, brand and vendor. Please do your research to find the device that meets your needs at the price you are willing to pay, or ask your professional landscape contractor.

All rain sensors that connect to an automatic, in-ground irrigation system are eligible for the $25 rebate; wireless rain sensors are eligible for the $50 rebate.
