The agenda and minutes were approved. Theresa welcomed David Spector to the CAC and stated Barbara Boardman would be at the May meeting.
DW UPDATE
Marie Bassett, Director of Public Affairs
Rick asked for an update on the proposed Sulfur Gulch project as it was on the agenda at the recent Board meeting. Dave Little gave an update. The Board must come up with a way to supply the 10,825 water for endangered fish species in the Colorado River. Currently, this is being done through a temporary agreement which runs out in 2009. Sulfur Gulch is one option and there are other options which are being explored and discussed. Rick stressed that the West Slope is opposed to the Sulfur Gulch project. Dave replied that DW and the other organizations which need to supply the 10,825 water, must come up with a solution for this recovery program. It is in the interest of all users of the Colorado River to make sure there is a permanent solution to supply 10,825 water. DW will continue to work to find the best solution, one option is Sulfur Gulch, but there are others. To be responsible, DW is moving forward to find a solution.
Tap Smart – Denver Water is moving ahead with the Conservation Plan now to be referred to as Tap Smart program. Marie invited the CAC to make comments on the plan. Comments should be sent to Liz Gardener by April 30, 2007.
Operating Rules – Marie stated the Operating Rules were being revised and she would provide a summary of the proposed changes at the next CAC meeting.
Myrna asked if any changes to the Operating Rules would include the encouragement of drip irrigation systems. Marie stated this was not a proposed change and would bring information on DW irrigation incentive programs to the next CAC meeting. This program gives incentives to customers, mostly large HOAs, to improve irrigation systems which could include drip systems.
RAW WATER UPDATE
Bob Steger, Water Resources
Bob gave an update on the current status of water resources.
MOFFAT COLLECTION SYSTEM
David Little, Manager of Water Resources & General Planning
Dave Little, Travis Bray and Steve Schmitzer presented five alternatives for additional supply on the north end of the DW system. The Corp of Engineers has the project at this time but the Board must select a preferred alternative. Staff asked the CAC for there input pro and con on the five alternatives.
CAC BUSINESS
A tour of the north end of the system was discussed. Becky and Joe will discuss some options for a tour which would include the Fraser River.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 pm.
