Denver Water's recycled water plant has hosted a number of trade events during the past month, including the annual WateReuse Colorado section meeting, a technical luncheon for members of the water and wastewater industry, annual customer training and the inaugural customer forum.
The annual customer training drew more than 20 people, including existing customers, new customers and designers of recycled water irrigation systems. Although this training is only required for new customers, many existing customers took the opportunity to send new staff to the training event. Denver Water’s online refresher training for existing customers also was improved to provide immediate feedback to customers on training results.
In an effort to respond to customer needs and help educate consumers about recycled water, Denver Water hosted its first customer forum in early March. The focus of the forum was for irrigation customers to share tips and tricks on how to maintain healthy landscapes with recycled water irrigation. An expert panel facilitated the discussion, which included Doug Brooks from the Denver Country Club, Martin Flanigan from the Denver Parks and Recreation Department and Tracy Richard from CommonGround Golf Course.
Based on the positive feedback on this event, Denver Water plans to host similar events in the future and may even partner with other utilities to bring together recycled water irrigation customers in the Denver-metro area for an even greater learning experience.
