Starting in April and continuing through October, Denver Water will be cleaning and lining water mains that supply your area. Crews will work Monday through Saturday, generally from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The water mains to be cleaned and lined extend from 44th Avenue to 38th Avenue, and from Tennyson Street to Federal Boulevard. Mains also will be cleaned and lined on Lowell Boulevard from 38th Avenue to 32nd Avenue.

Improving your water system
As part of our ongoing maintenance program, we periodically recondition sections of our water system, which assures you of continued dependable water service. Pipeline reconditioning involves scraping the inside of the main to remove accumulated materials, followed by the application of a thin mortar coating to protect the water main from further corrosion. This work ensures that we maintain adequate water supply and essential fire protection at all times.

How this work will affect you
While the work is in progress, residents and businesses along the route will be provided with a temporary above-ground water supply since the water main must be taken out of service for cleaning. In some cases, it may be necessary to connect other homes and businesses around the project area to the temporary supply even if their water main won’t be cleaned and lined.
Connections will be made to your service line from temporary pipelines laid alongside the curbs on each side of the street. We will make every effort to maintain your normal water service at all times, but short interruptions will be necessary to make connections between your service line and the temporary pipelines. Additional longer outages may also be necessary, and we will give advance notice in those instances. Be aware that emergencies may also force temporary, unannounced water outages at any time.
Despite Denver Water’s efforts to make as little impact as possible along the route, traffic and street-side parking will be affected at certain points. Any lane or street closures will be clearly marked and signs will designate any areas where parking is prohibited. Please pay close attention to all signs, cones and barricades, and help keep the project area safe for our workers and neighborhood residents alike.

Please... Watch your step
If you live or travel in the area, you’ll notice a number of openings in the street to allow access to the water main and to accommodate the temporary pipelines running across the intersections and driveways. All openings will be covered when not in use and will be resurfaced after the project is finished. Every safety precaution will be taken, and all work areas will be barricaded and carefully marked to prevent injury. You can help by cautioning your family and friends to watch their step and avoid the work areas as much as possible.

Inconvenience temporary, improvements permanent
We realize our project may cause some inconveniences for those of you who live and work in the area. We are working closely with local officials and law enforcement to minimize traffic disruptions, and we will do our best to see that the construction goes smoothly. You may notice water in the streets, and large amounts of water will be used to flush the pipeline during the lining process. The flushing is necessary to ensure good water quality once the relined water main is placed back in use.
