We are looking for an experienced internal auditor to help build our new Internal Audit practice on the principles of the IIA’s International Professional Practices framework (IPPF). Ideal candidate will have solid experience building credibility and partnerships with audit clients. The new IA unit reports jointly to the Manager/CEO and the Board of Water Commissioners.
DESCRIPTION
- Provides independent and objective auditing assurance and consulting services to Denver Water that are designed to add value and improve the organization's operations.
- Communicates observations, findings and recommendations, documents workpapers, and drafts audit reports.
- Establishes and maintains a high level of credibility with audit clients and senior management.
- Participates directly in risk assessment and scoping activities to drive the annual audit plan and to design audit program and testing steps.
- Uses computerized auditing tools.
- Writes clearly, concisely, and effectively.
- Works with audit clients to develop risk-appropriate solutions to audit issues
- Participates in fraud and ethics investigations
- Provides high-value insights to audit clients on ways they can improve efficiency, effectiveness, control, and oversight.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in business, accounting, finance, computer systems, or related field.
- At least five years' increasingly responsible experience conducting financial, operational, and/or information systems audits
- CIA, CPA, CISA, CFE or other appropriate designation required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 'R' Colorado driver's license, and have a satisfactory driving record.
Other Requirements
- Position will require HIPAA training, provided by Denver Water
- Will be required to travel 10 to 15% to other Denver Water facilities
