Traffic advisory: Ongoing project at University Boulevard and Belleview Avenue

Jan. 04, 2012 - Two southbound lanes of University Boulevard just north of Belleview Avenue will be closed for the next two weekends as a Denver Water contractor installs two access manholes near the intersection. The manholes are needed to access a 30-inch conduit and determine the cause of a leak.

The work will take place:

  • Friday, Jan. 6, at 8 p.m. through Monday, Jan. 9, at 5 a.m.
  • Friday, Jan. 13, at 8 p.m. through Monday, Jan. 16, at 5 a.m.

Water service to the surrounding homes and businesses should not be affected by the work.

On Nov. 4, 2011, Denver Water responded to a leak on a 30-inch conduit at University Boulevard and Belleview Avenue. At that time, Denver Water isolated the leak and scheduled repairs for a later date because the pipe was located in a hill about 10 feet underground, and repairs at the busy intersection would have been lengthy.

After the access manholes are installed, Denver Water will insert cameras into the pipe to determine the extent of the repairs needed. There likely will be future closures in the area when repairs take place. Further notification will be provided at that time.
